Running-cost calculator

Estimate what an appliance actually costs to run per year. Take the energy figure from the appliance's spec page or its EU energy label, plug in your own electricity (and, for washing machines and dishwashers, water) tariff, and get an annual and per-cycle cost. Free, no login, nothing leaves your browser.

How is the energy figure measured?

From the spec page's "Energy / 100 cycles" figure, divided by 100. Or the datasheet's "energy per cycle" value directly.

From the spec page's "Annual energy" figure (continuous appliances like fridges run all year).

Nothing you enter here is sent anywhere, the calculation runs entirely in your browser.

Estimated running cost

€0

Energy / year

€0

Water / year

€0

Total / year

That works out to roughly €0 per cycle, across 0 cycles a year.

Estimate only. Real usage varies with programme choice, load size, water hardness and your actual tariff (including standing charges and any time-of-use rates). Use this to compare two appliances' relative running cost, not as a guaranteed bill.

How this is calculated

For per-cycle appliances: annual energy cost = energy per cycle × cycles per week × 52 × tariff, and the same formula for water using litres per cycle converted to cubic metres. For continuous appliances like fridges, we simply multiply the manufacturer's annual kWh figure by your tariff. These are the same energy figures shown on every appliance's spec page here, sourced from manufacturer official product and datasheet pages.
