LG Extends Fit and Max Appliance Design to Washers, Dryers, Dishwashers

LG Electronics said on 19 August 2026 that it is extending its “Fit & Max” flush-fit design solution beyond refrigerators to washing machines, dryers and dishwashers, with the expanded lineup on show at its IFA 2026 booth in Hall 18, Messe Berlin, from 4 to 8 September. The announcement, made at 21:00 ET on 19 August (effectively 20 August in Europe), came through LG’s own newsroom and was distributed the same day via PR Newswire.

Fit & Max rests on two design principles LG has now applied across four appliance categories. “Fit Space” covers product-specific door and hinge mechanisms and installation systems built to minimize gaps and protrusion, so a unit sits flush with surrounding kitchen or utility-room cabinetry. “Max Life” is LG’s term for engineering capacity, performance, energy efficiency and convenience to be maximized within that same fixed footprint, rather than shrinking the interior to fit a smaller install space.

What changes on washing machines and dryers?

LG says the new washing machines and dryers use slide-in installation with a flat, minimal front designed to align with surrounding cabinetry lines, plus AI Wash and AI Dry functions that detect load characteristics and adjust cycle settings automatically. On capacity, LG’s own comparison states the new machines hold 3 kg more laundry than its previous F4J8J-series models, which had a 600 mm installation depth, and 2 kg more than its F4J8V-series models, at 550 mm depth, while keeping the same external dimensions as those older machines. That comparison is LG’s own before-and-after measurement against its prior-generation models, not a claim against any competitor’s appliances.

What changes on dishwashers?

The new dishwashers get the same flush-fit design treatment, intended to keep cabinetry lines continuous rather than leaving a visible dishwasher front breaking up a run of cupboards. LG is citing a 1-hour Wash & Dry cycle, though the company’s own footnote on the release describes this as “an algorithm setting” and says actual operating time may vary. A new AI SenseClean function is meant to detect soil level on each load and adjust cleaning intensity accordingly.

Where do refrigerators fit in?

Refrigerators are the category Fit & Max already covered before this expansion, and LG is showing them alongside the new washing machine, dryer and dishwasher models at the same IFA zone. The fridges use what LG calls Dual FRESHConverter+ and a Full Convert Drawer to offer up to three adjustable temperature zones, plus an AI Fresh function LG says learns a household’s usage patterns over three weeks to optimize cooling.

Baek Seung-tae, president of the LG Home Appliance Solution Company, framed the expansion around a trade-off buyers shouldn’t have to make: “Consumers should not have to choose between an appliance that fits their space and one that delivers the capacity and performance they need. Fit & Max brings these priorities together in one solution. By extending this approach across more appliance categories, we aim to make it easier for consumers to choose products that fit naturally into their homes while delivering greater value in everyday life.” LG’s release also frames the push around European living conditions specifically, stating that living spaces across Europe are becoming more compact even as expectations for home appliances keep rising. That framing is LG’s own stated rationale for the launch, not an independently verified market figure.

What should a shopper do now?

Nothing yet. LG has not published model numbers, EU or UK prices, energy-label classes, or on-sale dates for the Fit & Max washing machines, dryers or dishwashers, so there is nothing to compare or buy today.
